December & January
Winter doesn't stop the fishing here in Florida! Days can be chilly, so much of the fishing is done in the river during these months where it's not as windy. Rather than focusing on one species, the river brings a "mixed bag" of opportunity. Redfish, Trout, Jack Crevalle, and more, all seek shelter in the rivers. Ladyfish are especially exciting on fly in the winter, and are a lot of fun for all experience levels. Winter is a good time to hone your fly fishing skills and get ready for the coming year. ![]() February March & April Many of the schools begin their migrations into the area during March & April, so what you catch depends on what is migrating through. There is sightfishing for Redfish & Trout, as well as Cobia, shallow water Grouper action on the rock piles, and Mackerel fishing is all good. Check with us, we can let you know what's been biting, though it changes weekly. One thing is sure-there are a lot of hungry fish moving in! Toward the end of April, start looking for the Tarpon... May & June One word: Tarpon. Tarpon begin moving into our area the last week of April or the beginning of May. They hit the flats hungry and flies are one of their favorite foods. We recommend fishing our tarpon with a qualified fly fishing guide. We have a challenging fishery and having a guide will greatly improve your chances of hooking up a big one! May & June also bring plenty of redfish to the area. ![]() July & August September & November Redfish, Grouper, Cobia: the fish just keep getting bigger. Why spend half your day traveling out to sea, when a short ride gets you out to the big Grouper? We fish grouper rocks 6-8 miles out and spend our time catching fish! When the Grouper bite turns off for the day, a few minutes is all we need to get into the thick Reds and Cobia. |
