Hello to all, from the "Sunshine" State! It has sure been an unusual year for us Floridians. Afternoon thunderstorms are the norm for the summer time, in Florida, but we aren't used to these back-to-back hurricanes! This has been a really wacky weather year.
Apparently we are making history with the frequency and severity of the 2004 hurricane season, but there isn't a single person in the state, who would just as soon pass on that particular honor.

It may seem that there would be no fishing what-so-ever here, but that sure hasn't been the case. Though the water and the fish are stirred up right after a hurricane blows through, the fishing just a day or two before a big storm arrives often offers the best fishing there is. The fish will often scatter, or go out to sea, when a hurricane hits, so the day or two before they seem to spend stocking up and fattening up. The bite is hot!

August brought very hot weather and the usual afternoon thunderstorms, and few redfish showed up. The ones that did were a bit late, not arriving until the very end of the month. When they turned on, though, they turned on with a vengeance. From then on though, into September, everyone in the state was ducking hurricanes. It was very hard to plan trips in advance this year, but if you could get out on the right day, the fishing was incredible. There have been some spotted seatrout, spanish mackerel, and jack crevalle to liven things up a bit, but most people have been excited about the redfish bite. It is hot!

As we begin October, we predict that the redfishing and troutfishing will remain good, and the end of October should bring a more consistant weather pattern. Our fish will be schooling up and feeding well. Rig up an eight weight, and come try our Fabulous Florida Fishing!
