You've decided you want to fish in beautiful Crystal River. You've looked at our "Seasonal Information " Page to see what is biting and when. You know when you're coming and you know what you want to fish for. Now the last question, how much is this trip going to cost.

Your trip price will depend on a number of different factors. The easiest way to get a price estimate is to call Daisy or Daryl, at the fly shop and let them figure your cost for you.

Have the following information ready and you'll save some time:

  1. How many people are in your party?
  2. When are you coming?
  3. What type of fish do you wish to target?
  4. Will your party be fly fishing or spin fishing?
  5. How many days do you wish to fish?
  6. How many nights will you be staying at the hotel?

With these questions answered we can tailor a trip to your specific needs, and only charge you for the services you want.
Keep in mind if you book an angling trip through our fly shop, you will be getting a special rate on your hotel rooms, and we never charge a booking fee.

Trips are completely flexible, but here is a quick guide to give you an idea on costs.

Two days fishing/three nights stay & two people $800 - $1300
Three days fishing/four nights stay & two people $1200 - $1800

These costs depend on type of fish (Tarpon, Cobia & shallow water Grouper incur additional fees) and when you are coming. This is just a basic idea, whether you're fishing a day or a week, we'll make sure you get the best rates and service.

When to Book

Please book your trips as far in advance as possible. We want you to have the best guides, the best fishing days and the best rooms available. We work on a first come first serve basis, so book early for optimal service and the best selection.

Casting Lessons

There's a lot that's different about our fly casting lessons and a lot that's the same. The Orvis quality and dedication to service is a commitment we stand by. Our casting instructors are of the highest quality, both as casters and as teachers. We are dedicated to making your entire experience both educational and enjoyable. We go the extra mile to make sure that you are comfortable and relaxed while you learn.

And what's different? Why stand all day casting in a field or shallow pond, when you can be on the water, catching fish while you're learning!?

With a Nature Coast Fly Shop's one-on-one casting lesson, you will spend a short time on the field, learning technique, then spend the rest of your time on the water perfecting your technique, and catching fish! Not only is this more exciting than traditional classes, it also helps to overcome the inevitable "Buck Fever" that hits novice, and even experienced fly anglers, when they encounter fish.

At the Nature Coast Fly Shop, we believe in one-on-one instruction. Ever been to a "beginners" fly casting class that was too advanced, or didn't have enough content? Ever been to an "advanced" class and spent your whole time learning basics you already knew, rather than advanced techniques? With our individualized lessons we won't waste your time on technique you already know, or skip the things you need. We will pair you with an instructor that will quickly assess your individual needs and focus your training to you.

Check your ORVIS catalog to see the dates for our regular casting school, or call (352) 795-3156 for your individual casting lesson today!

If you've never held a rod and reel and don't even know why a fly line is so thick - our lessons are for you!

If you've been fly fishing for years in fresh water, and now you want to learn to salt water fly fish - our lessons are for you!

If you've fished all over the world, but want to learn specific "tricks" to catch Redfish or giant Tarpon- our lessons are for you!
